The DVD/CD package History on My Arms is an expanded version of the film Hey Is Dee Dee Home, containing that 63-minute interview with Dee Dee Ramone conducted by director Lech Kowalski, plus stray video and audio footage that repeats much of the same material and a 22-minute interview with drummer Vom Ritchie that provides his version of an incident discussed by Ramone in his interview. The incident, a disagreement between Ramone and fellow punk rock legends Stiv Bators and Johnny Thunders that scuttled a potential punk supergroup in the late '80s (or maybe, Ritchie thinks, only a Bators solo album to which Ramone and Thunders were set to contribute), comes in for exhaustive, if inconclusive discussion (Ritchie, it turns out, wasn't even present, and his muddled account is hearsay), which is an indication of the limitations of this project. Neither Hey Is Dee Dee Home nor History on My Arms is a comprehensive documentary about Ramone -- in both forms, the project is an interview that focuses on a few issues: the supergroup that never was; Ramone's problematic relationship with Thunders, particularly with regard to a dispute over the authorship of the song "Chinese Rocks"; Ramone's tattoos (he spends a large part of the interview with his shirt off, and his chest and arms are covered with them); and Ramone's drug abuse. There is precious little about the Ramones, which presumably would be a subject of greatest interest to a fan likely to buy this package. And there isn't much music, either, even though a CD is included. Ramone spends some of his time with an electric guitar in his hands, and he noodles on it. That's what's on the CD, along with some of the other audio material.
