This -- the US version of this record as listed here -- is easily in the top 5 of guitar rock albums of the '70s. Sweet were in their absolute prime for this material. Side 1 of the LP is stocked full of Chapman and Chinn classics including the monster hit, "Ballroom Blitz." Side 2 was all penned by the members of Sweet, including the hit "Fox on the Run." The rest of the album is just as strong -- "Sweet F.A.," "No You Don't," "I Wanna Be Committed," "Set Me Free" are all gloriously over-the-top rock cuts, the magical place where the Who, the Ramones and Kiss meet. The level of punky glam attitude is matched by the brilliant technical execution. This album is a wonder.

Released in the early '70s..... this album sounds like a Heavy Metal MONSTER still today!!!!With the first ever THRASH METAL song ...Sweet F.A. bashing your FUCKIN brains to the psychedelic trip of...I Wanna Be Committed ......this record is so FUCKIN good!!!!Sweet before this album was a bubblegummy mess!!!Desolation Blvd was a rebirth reminiscent of PANTERA'S rebirth of '90 to a more METAL way to be!!!One side written by Chapman and Chinn, the other by the band..... both are in your face metalpieces!!!Huge hits.... Fox On The Run and Ballroom Blitz paved the way for slam-bammers like ... No You Dont.... Set Me Free...the bisexual rocker AC/DC and...the riff laden rocker.. Solid Gold Brass!!!!!With vocal harmonies so unique(Steve Priest's backup cries) and so SWEET.....they meld with singer Brian Connelly like peanut butter and jelly!!!!!Check out Andy Scott's lead in Sweet F.A......fuckin brutal!!!I believe that every song on the album has been remade a million times and none have ever come close to the original!!!! (Heathen's version of SET ME FREE almost)This album is a MUST in every METALHEAD'S collection....it a flat out Heavy Metal classic!!!!

I bought this album at a drugstore when I was 14 years old.I knew the 2 singles, but the rest of the album is incredibly heavy, at the time anyway. This album definitely paved the way for my love of Metal.
