This is a landmark album not only for Sweet but for all fans of glam/hard rock! First things first - they go from being a bunch of (very) pretty faces for a couple of hack song writers, to this, their first album in which they write all the tunes. It has a crunchingly good distorted guitar, underneath it a John Bonham-style 26-inch kick drum whomp foundation. Great songs with sadly very misogynistic lyrics that reflect the ignorant times, yet they overcome this with with excellent songwriting chops. One right after the other, an onslaught of heavy rock falsetto harmonies a la Queen. “White Mice” is a perfect example of this, it’s uptempo guitar guitar god soloing and frantic machine gun snare-floor tom-kick drum rolls and the high pitched vocals handling the choruses. Wow! There’s even some disco influence (it’s the 70s) but it’s so heavy on top with the massive kick drum below, they pull it off. Buy or stream this now!!

Fantastic... proving that they could do it on their own.
