Pandora was from NYC, formed in late 1973 and featured Rick Prince on vocals, me, Martin John Butler (lead guitar), Buz Verno (bass) and Frank LaRocca on drums. This was a demo we did on a 4 track machine at Joe Battaglia of Granicus fame's loft in Cleveland, Ohio. The band played gigs in the NY area, including the legendary Max's Kansas City. Although offered a major label recording contract, Buz and Frank accepted an offer to play with David Johansen, and were featured on his solo albums. Frank won a Grammy for producing the soundtrack to the movie Philadelphia, and later played with Jon Waite and Tom Petty. Martin recorded an album for Mercury Records in 1978 with his band The Demons, a NY Punk-Pop group, with legendary Punk producer Craig Leon, and later became a writer and producer of music for radio and television, winning a CLIO and other awards. Rick did an album with his band Plum Nelly, briefly joined Twisted Sister, and worked with Mick Jones of Foreigner after Pandora. The recording fully expresses the great energy and power of the era. Possessing the burgeoning NYC sound of the era, and merging it with the best of classic British Glam rock, Pandora were potentially, the greatest Glam/Punk band America produced. Take a trip with this album, and you won't be disappointed.
