Whiplash was cast aside upon release as James' play for a place among Brit-pop's elite, but that is a false assertion when stacked against their catalog of work. The band has always released excellent singles and that trend continues here with the soaring "She's A Star," rousing "Tomorrow" and rollicking "Waltzing Along." Whiplash has stood the test of time and is better removed from the context of the era it was released in.
