I'm probably in the minority of people who liked Title better, but I just loved the retro, doo-wop feel to that album. This album is pretty good though, but I think it's obvious that Meghan ditched the retro feel for a more modern sound. I think "Woman Up" and "Kindly Calm Me Down" are rip offs of Beyonce and Adele's music, respectively. I still enjoyed those two tracks though, as Meghan is a very talented and versatile vocalist. That's proven with what in my opinion is the best song on this album, Hopeless Romantic. All Meghan needed was her beautiful voice and an acoustic guitar to create that song. While songs like No, Me Too, Watch Me Do, and Dance Like Yo Daddy were enjoyable for me, I can see why others would find them annoying. Believe what you want about the messages of songs like those, but all Meghan is trying to do is promote self confidence. Just like with Meghan's first album, I find that many music critics completely overanalyzed her lyrics. Anyway, were there a few bad songs on this album? Yes. Better and Thank You had to be the worst, as this is Meghan's album. Why should a rapper come in to drop a verse? Though to be fair, I did really enjoy I Love Me, a collab between Meghan and Lunch Money Lewis. In conclusion, I'm still a Meghan Trainor fan after her 2nd album, though I definitely think she needs to go back to what made her first album great.

This record seems to mix up the idea of self-confidence with the idea of self-importance that throughout the albums seems to pop it's ugly head out whenever it gets the chance, especially on the song "Me Too" that is basically telling the listener to be jealous of her because of how amazing her life is. (If I was you, i'd wanna be me too) Thankfully the first 3 tracks are the worst of it, because it does get better but the record never seems to get to a point where it finds itself, because this thing is all over the place. The writing is fairly bland, the music is recalling a lot of 90's pop with lots Caribbean influence thrown in the mix but still doesn't find a firm footing in any part of the songs. This isn't to say that Trainor isn't talented, because from what I can see she is but she has a few things to shake before she can truly make an album that showcases said talent.
