This album made me uninterested in 311 in 2005 and I was a diehard fan of 311 since 1996 or 1997. I can't listen to this all the way through, the thing is that this album is pure audio garbage. Saint is a piss poor engineer, mixing engineer and producer on this record. Saint has worked with 311 before this and he is brilliant on those other records (especially Evolver). What in the world happened? In my opinion, 311 went downhill on this and then got even worse when they released Uplifter and Universal Pulse. To me, they were not putting enough umph in their songs. Evolver is an incredible album and it was the best record Saint ever was involved with. I lost all interest in 311 and then I got interested in them again when they released Stereolithic. 311 would have been better off by going on hold after they released their greatest hits album in 2004 and then come back with Scott Ralston as their producer. Ralston does a super fantastic job on Soundsystem and Stereolithic.Don't Tread On Me is bad to me, truly bad and it's a shame. It contains bad songwriting, bad sound production, bad mixing, etc. Any other aspects I didn't mention are bad as well. I guess this is a real unpopular opinion. Do you like this album? Awesome, enjoy it. I personally don't enjoy it at all.
