I always thought this was a proposed Super Group with a Name Guitarist having to drop out...but irregardless... it's def a high point in Paul Rodgers later or "solo" career... not inc The Firm... which I personally see as more "Led Co" than "Bad Zep" and often wish that Era lasted longer... - to put The Law into perspective you need to compare to the prior Cut Loose, and 4 later discsThe Hendrix Set EP, Muddy Waters Blues, Now, + Electric => what you notice is obvious... => the BEST Discs have the BEST Material... ranking The Hendrix Set feat Neal Schon at top... and blues classics on Muddy Waters CD next with ALL those guest guitarists ! ! [ go look ]- #3 or #4 in my opinion is The Law... which has a lot of guest writers and guest guitarists... but like the Muddy Waters disc... either the song shines or it smudges... Rodgers wrote a real gem with Missing You Bad, Girl a classy, sensuous atmospheric ballad... as well as Laying Down the Law which adds to Bad Co's Gunslinger repertoire and vibe- so it's rather satisfying to pop in the player - you will prob have about 6 or 7 faves from 11 tracks - if you were to make a Best of Paul Rodgers 2 CD Set... this would be your main "Go To Disc" - take about 30 min from this - [ not too shabby in terms of 70's vinyl ] - Electric has little to offer - Now CD has the abs incredible Soul of Love and not much else... unless paired with a VG Live CD in the "Now + Live" 2 CD pkg [ Now + Electric are all written by Rodgers btw -so is Cut Loose] - "Cut Loose" is quite remarkable in that it sounds like a LIVE band... with Paul playing ALL of the instruments... inc drums ! ! - obv you can't play any 2 inst's at once and this is quite the accomplishment to make it sound "seamless" - many good songs and a few superb ones !- another "Go To Disc" with Rodgers - prob the solo CD he is most proud of... I def would be ! !- so here's a review of Paul Rodgers' The Law... and an overview of the other various solo albums - def buy The Law... Cut Loose... Hendrix Set... Muddy Waters Blues... and "Now & Live" 2 CD pkg=> "Complete-ists"... Rodgers fans... and Hendrix fans will DEF treasure "Stone Free" V/A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix feat Paul + Slash + Band of Gypsys on "I Don't Live Today" [ + many EXC covers ] ...and Paul on Steve Lukather's Solo disc "Candyman" doing a high octane version of "Freedom"
